Community food pantry

Neighbors helping neighbors

Free groceries and essentials for Eastside families — no appointment needed during open pantry hours.

Our mission

Eastside Community Pantry is a volunteer-run food pantry serving Gresham, East Portland, and Troutdale families facing temporary hardship. Since 2016 we have distributed fresh produce, shelf-stable staples, and hygiene items with dignity and respect — no proof of income required at the door. We partner with local grocers, farms, and faith communities to keep shelves stocked year-round.

What we provide

Weekly grocery bags

Pre-packed bags plus choice items — fresh produce, protein, and dairy when available, plus pantry staples sized for every household. Guests pick what fits their family each visit.

Hygiene & household kits

Soap, shampoo, diapers, and cleaning supplies distributed monthly while supplies last. Kits are assembled by volunteers and updated seasonally based on community requests.

SNAP & resource navigation

Volunteers help guests apply for SNAP and Oregon food programs, and connect families to county housing and utility assistance when extra support is needed.

Common questions

Who can visit the pantry?

Anyone living in our Eastside service area who needs groceries may visit during open hours. We do not require proof of income or identification for a first visit.

What are pantry hours?

We are open Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to 12 pm. Hours may change on major holidays — check this page before you come.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is needed. Arrive during open hours, check in with a volunteer at the welcome desk, and we will walk you through bag selection.

Can I donate food or volunteer?

Yes. Shelf-stable donations are accepted during open hours. New volunteers attend a one-hour orientation — use the form above to sign up for the next session.

Is my visit confidential?

We do not share visitor information with outside agencies unless you ask for a referral. Guest counts are reported in aggregate for grant reporting only.

What should I bring?

Bring reusable bags if you have them — we also have bags on site. A photo ID is helpful but not required for your first visit.
